I became a criminal defense attorney out of a desire to help people facing overwhelming challenges in the criminal justice system. Before law school, I was an infantry soldier in the U.S. Army, a Peace Corps volunteer, and a graduate student at the University of California at Berkeley where I learned dedication and research skills.

I am a former felony prosecutor, public defender, and Peace Corps volunteer. I have personally handled hundreds of criminal cases, including many which went to trial.

I have received special training in litigation and court procedures such as trial and plea negotiation, evidence, working with experts, opening and closing statements, interviewing skills for clients and witnesses, bond and motion practice, and preliminary hearings.
